Two Drinks is right. Lets face it, regardless if you are either pro or anti - Bush, Moore's movie, yes movie, contains [lets say 'some'] propaganda. No one should be basing their decison on it. So lets start hearing the real reasons why people are considering Kerry or Bush. And don't say something stupid, like Jason Bateman said, at the DNC, because 'he's not Bush'. Lets discuss the topic, without bringing Moore's movie in.
Can any Kerry supporter answer me this : I heard a while ago about Kerry wanting the United Nations controlling the US military. Is this true? If so, why?
I am an outstanding person but I would say he thinks that your army shouldn't act without permissions from the UN. Not the real control of your army but to take the UN more seriously. To act with all other nations not alone with a few followers. And to use the Veto more carefully to show who is really a strong democratic nation with good intensions.
well since ya asked, heres a few reasons i support kerry/edwards:
-cutting taxes for the middle class
-rolling back the tax cut for the rich
-giving companies that create jobs here instead of overseas
-going to cut health care premiums by up to $1000 for families
-cut perscription prices by alowing drugs to be imported from canada
-establishing a national trust to ensure all schools get the funding they need
-offer aid to states that keep college tuition down
-making sure first responders (cops, firefighters, etc) have the equipment to do thier jobs, and get paid well for doing it (since bush cut thier funding)
-going to protect a womans right to choose whats best for her (abortion)
-try to end our dependance on middle-eastern oil
-research renewable resources of energy
-restore funding to the federal COPS program that the bush admin cut by 90%
-protect gun rights, while keeping them out of the hands of criminals(by fixing gun show loopholes)
I have to support, in principal, the Kerry/Edwards economic agenda although I am practical enough to realize that economics are not controlled but only influenced by the US administration.
Real reasons for a vote? The hope that there may be some integrity in the White House. That the special interests might have a bit less influence. That we could form some alliances rather than piss of the rest of the world. That, as he said in his acceptance speech, the US flag can represent all Americans, including those of us who disagree with with the current or any administration.

Health Care is a major problem. Strange how great the United States makes itself out to be even though a large number of its citizens can't get the insurance they need. Kerry specifically wants to take the money from the rolled back tax cuts on the top 2 percent to make health care more affordable to families like mine.
By the way, Kerry doesn't want the United Nations to control us. He wants to be a better partner within the UN by taking them more seriously. The United States can't win the war on terrorism alone. It must be a global effort, this includes the UN. If we continue to ignore the UN, we will only be perpetuating the violence.

<font size="2" face="verdana, arial">Yeah, I'm afraid special interest groups would have more interest under Kerry than they did with Bush(that's just my opinion, so don't get pissed at me for it). My real concern is the current movement that seems to be to let criminals go with little or no punishment while putting innocent people behind bars, I'm not saying Kerry is a part of this or that he will solve it, but this scares me, a while back I saw thing on the news about a woman being convicted of manslaughter after her son killed herself, and the prosecutions whole argument was that her house was a mess so her son couldn't help killing himself. I don't know what the hell's going on, but we really need to fix this crap. At the same time we have people saying the death penalty is cruel and supporting legislation that pays for prisoners to have cable tv and a weight room and other crap like that at the publics expense, and i think welfare needs to be reformed, anyone remember Roosevelts public works program? I think we need to get rid of welfare(exceptions made for single parents and such) and set up programs that anyone capable of working has to work for to get their check. Thanks for explaining what Kerry meant, in that statement. It now makes sense.
I have been checking out the canidates stands and found that some are quite similar. They both want to make health care more affordable. They both would offer small business a lower rate when they purchase health insurance, for their workers. Kerry wants to lower preiums, by up to $1000. Bush wants to expand the medical savings account, so workers will have more control over cost. He also wants to open and expand health centers and offer a health insurance tax credit. Both want affordable and reliable energy and have been exploring options. Bush has just proposed a national energy plan, to Congress. The economy is another area. Both canidates understand the need for international trade to help with the economy and jobs. Bush just signed into law, two new free trade agreements with Chile and Singapore. Kerry is offering a tax break to have companies come back to the US. Both would provide jobs and economic growth. Each canidate believes 'No child left behind.' Kerry is offering a tax credit, to college students. Bush signed into law, Reading First and Early Reading First, programs that ensure every child can read by the third grade. Both believe in after school programs and better traing for teachers.
Cheating at Solitaire, I agree that welfare needs to be reformed. It has been abused by many people. I think there should be better investigation into these people's lives, to ensure there is no main income. I also think they should be required to maintain atleast a 20hrs/wk job. Welefare is definately eating into our economy. I beleive the prison system should also be reformed. They committed a crime and should not live better then most working class people. Eliminating some luxuries would help with taxes. Maybe even consider helping society while in prison, in some way.
